Law Review

Welcome to the Supreme Cart Law Review, a periodic periodical of the law and policy of mobile gastronomic enterprises (“MGE”), sponsored by the Justices of the Supreme Cart. The Supreme Cart Law Review is a public outreach program of the Supreme Cart, part of the Cart’s openness and transparency initiative as outlined in Part 4 of the amended Rules of Procedure. Members of the Bar of the Supreme Cart are invited to submit comments or articles reasonably related to the purview of the Supreme Cart electronically to supremecartblog@gmail.com to be considered for inclusion in upcoming issues of the Supreme Cart Law Review. Potential topics for comments or articles include, but are by no means limited to, the following:

  • Supreme Cart Case Law. You may write a comment on, or critique of, the developing case law of the Supreme Cart. Such a piece may address either an individual case or trends across cases.
  • Supreme Cart Procedure. You may write a comment on, or critique of, the Rules of Procedure of the Supreme Cart. Suggestions for policy changes are encouraged.
  • Supreme Cart History. You may write a comment on the history of this august body and its members.
  • Developing Issues. You may write a comment on, or a critique of, an MGE we have not yet reviewed. (This includes dishes the Justices have not yet reviewed from mobile gastronomic enterprises the Justices have reviewed.)
  • Comparative Law. You may write a comment comparing the MGEs and MGE culture of our jurisdiction, as defined in our organic act and in our Rules of Procedure, with the MGEs and MGE culture of areas outside our jurisdiction. For example, a comparison of the phenomenon of Korean tacos in Washington and Los Angeles.
  • Regulatory and Substantive Policy. While primarily a legal journal, the Justices of the Supreme Cart will entertain the possibility of including comments on, or critiques of, DC-area MGE regulatory policy, as well as thoughtful suggestions for future MGEs.

The decision as to the inclusion of a comment or article in the Supreme Cart Law Review rests within the sole discretion of the Justices of the Supreme Cart. To be considered for inclusion, all submissions must be civil, thoughtful, and professional in tone. Submissions should be sent in the body of an e-mail to supremecartblog@gmail.com, with the subject line reading “SCLR Submission.” As only admitted members of the Bar of the Supreme Cart may submit comments and articles, we ask that you provide your Bar number in the first line of the body of your e-mail.
