OUR REVIEWS

Milan (Affirmed)

The Milan — “salty” pancetta, “peppery” arugula, “strong and creamy” gorgonzola, garlic mayo, and a sunny side up egg on a “crusty” baguette — is “downright phenomenal” with a “perfect” combination of flavors. The sandwich was also voted one of the Justices’ favorite dishes in 2013. For the full review, see SUNdeVICH v. SUNdeVICH, 22 Catt. 1 (2013).

*Voted a “must try” dish in Best Mobile Gastronomy (The First Savory Edition, 2013).

Athens, Buenos Aires, Kingston (Affirmed)

The Athens — a “ficelle filled with chunks of succulent lamb, tomato, sumac onions, tzatziki, and greens” — is “not revolutionary” but is “immaculately” prepared, with “crisp and fresh” flavors and lamb that was “an exquisite medium rare.” The Buenos Aires — a “ficelle filled with (flank?) steak, chimichurri, and sauteed onions” — approaches “the perfect sandwich.” The Kingston — “a ficelle filled with jerk chicken, pineapple salsa, greens, spicy slaw, and garlic mayo” — is a “really good sandwich” despite the Justices’ “general aversion to fruit . . . based condiments,” with a “beautiful, charred, floral acidity,” “heavily seasoned chicken,” and “unctuous garlic mayo.” For the full review, see In re SUNdeVICH, 22 Catt. 2 (2013).
